Since the company was founded in 1969, the ifm-Unternehmensgruppe has developed, produced and sold sensors, controllers and systems for industrial automation worldwide. Today the company, which is family-run in the second generation, is one of the global industry leaders with more than 6,000 employees in 70 countries. As a medium-sized group ifm combines the internationality and innovative strength of a growing group of companies.
The project
The ifm-Unternehmensgruppe is faced with the challenge of retaining the knowledge of long-serving employees in the company and improving the exchange at international level. In order to remain strong in innovation and to utilize its own know-how, a solution was to be found that would make the knowledge in the company more transparent and improve cooperation across departments and locations. This goal was achieved with the “ifm knowledgenetwork”, which was rolled out after a year of agile project management. The central, multilingual platform based on Microsoft SharePoint and Atlassian Confluence now forms the digital workplace for 3,700 screen workers at 43 locations worldwide.
