While one third of the workforce at FES is supplied with information in real time via the intranet, two thirds are reached exclusively via analog or generally accessible digital formats on a time-delayed basis. In times when almost every one of these 1,300 employees has a smartphone in their pocket, the solution was obvious: an employee app was needed. The goal was not only to strengthen communication within the company and impart knowledge, but also to improve collaboration among employees and, beyond that, to offer services and processes, such as remuneration and time sheets, digitally. By providing such services, which offer real added value especially to frontline workers, the project became a complete success. The employee app based on Microsoft Teams, which was established in a project period of one year, is already being used by 44 percent of commercial employees after only two months on a voluntary basis.
